it's never too late

"It's never too late" is one of those cliche's that I love to say and believe is true.

Here is a story that drives this cliche home.

48 Years ago on May 9, 1961, in Rock Hill, South Carolina a KKK member, Elwin Wilson severely beat a MLK Freedom Rider, John Lewis, now a congressman out of Georgia, when he and other civil rights activists attempted to enter a "white" waiting room at a bus station in Rock Hill.

Just recently Mr. Wilson apologized to Congressman Lewis publicly on ABC News. The apology from Mr. Wilson appears sincere and heart felt and Mr. Lewis accepts with admirable grace.

It seems Mr. Wilson has spent many years feeling regret for his actions.

His son also appears on the video stating how difficult it was raised by a man who's belief's were not the same as his. Oh how I can relate to that.

Mr. Wilson also states in the video that if just one person can come forward after seeing this interview and change the way he did, it is all worth it.

God Bless You, Mr. Wilson.

I truly believe it's never too late.

Oh, how BEAUTIFUL!
I love hearing this story, but mostly because I so admire the willingness of the Congressman to forgive. If anyone had the right to say no, he does. He shows grace just as God shows us grace, and it's something we all can remember when we feel wronged by others.
I am thrilled to read about this, and also that the repentant heart of another man found mercy from the one he had injured.

wow, wow, wow.

I recall something about Ex-Gov George Wallace doing something of the same back in the day. That was also a big surprise. It gives more hope to the ability of humans to change for the better.
